Description: This new booklet is for teachers and school-based occupational therapists who recognize that their students are having trouble in school, but cannot quite put their finger on the problem. Possibly having heard about sensory integration dysfunction before, this 16-page guide provides teachers with succinct answers to the following:

  • What is sensory integration?
  • What is dysfunction in sensory integration?
  • What are some of its signs?
  • How are children who might have dysfunction in sensory integration assessed?
  • What kind of intervention is available for them?
  • What can teachers do to help their students?

Sensory Integration: Answers for Teachers features a reproducible worksheet teachers can use to capture their student observations, creating a tool that can be shared with school-based occupational therapists and parents.

Sensory Integration: Answers for Teachers was created by the staff of the Pediatric Therapy Network, a non-profit children's therapy center in Torrance, Calif. serving over 1000 children and their families. With nearly 100 therapists, teachers and support staff, Pediatric Therapy Network provides therapeutic programs to 250 schools and community agencies, in addition to being the site of an intensive post-graduate training program for therapists offered through the University of Southern California.
